Beyoğlu'nda Gizli bir Ege'li...Eleos / Aegean Breeze in Beyoglu...Eleos

Mavi beyaz renk kombinasyonuna her zaman bayılmışımdır. Bana yazı ve güzel Akdeniz sahillerini hatırlatıyor. Beyoğlu'nda tarihi Hıdivyal Palas'ın içinde saklı Eleos bu hissiyatı İstanbul'a taşımayı başarmış. Mavi beyaz dekor Rum meyhane kültürü ve Ege'nin leziz yemekleri ile birleşince insanın içini ısıtan, neşeli bir mekan çıkmış ortaya. Haydarpaşa'dan Boğaziçi'ne, Kız Kulesi'nden Selimiye'ye harika bir manzara da olunca bir çoğumuzun vazgeçilmezi oluyor Eleos.

I've always loved the blue and white color combination. It reminds me of summer and the beautiful Meditteranean coast. Hidden in the historical Hidivyal Palace building in Beyoglu, Eleos manages to bring out this feeling in the center of Istanbul. The blue and white color decor, tavern ambiance, and delicious tastes from the Meditteranean on the menu all together create a cozy and cheerful restaurant. You can't tell from outside, but Eleos has a wonderful view of the Bosphorus and the old town. Hence, it's understandable why this is such a favorite spot to many.

Gel Gel Asmalı Mohti'ye Gel! / Anchovy the Original Way at Mohti in Taksim

Arkadaşımız bizi bir Laz meyhanesine götüreceğini söylediğinde anında kabul ettim. Özellikle sevdiğim bir şey varsa o da yöresel Türk yemekleri. Mohti Laz Meyhanesi, adından da anlayacağınız gibi, Doğu Karadeniz lezzetleri sunan bir restoran. Alışagelmiş hamsili pilav ve hamsi tava yanı sıra patlıcan turşusu ve Laz böreği gibi Doğu Karadeniz'lilere özgü enteresan tatları da denemeniz mümkün. Asmalımescit'te bir ara sokakta yer alan bu 50 kişilik güzel restoranı Türklerden çok yabancıların bilmesi beni biraz üzdü. En kısa zamanda gitmenizi öneririm :).

When a friend of ours told us she was taking us to a "Laz" restaurant (people living in the eastern part of the Blacksea, mainly Rize), I accepted without a blink. If there is anything I really like, that is to try regional foods. Mohti Laz Meyhanesi (i.e. tavern), is a wonderful restaurant serving food from the eastern part of the Blacksea. This area is mostly known for its anchovy dishes, such as anchovy with rice and pan-fried anchovy, all of which you can find at Mohti. If you want something different and authentic, this 50 seat restaurant in Asmalimescit Taksim is the perfect place to go.

Son zamanlarda adını çok duyduğum bir meyhane.. Cihangir Demeti / Just any other tavern.. Demeti in Cihangir

Enteresan ve sürpriz mekanlara ev sahipliği yapma konusundaki başarısından dolayı Cihangir'i çok severim. Daha önce de Datlı Maya hakkında yazmıştım; tarihi odun fırınında Türk lezzetleri diye. Geçen haftasonu da, son zamanlarda adını çok duyduğumuz Demeti meyhanesini deneme fırsatı bulduk. 

Birbirinden çok, görmeye alışkın olduğumuz meze çeşitleri sunan Demeti özellikle kalabalık bir grupsanız gitmek için eğlenceli bir yerdir. O arada bir de, kanımca, İstanbul'un en güzel şarap butiği La Cave'a da uğrama ve ev için güzel bir şarap alma bahaneniz de olmuş olur. 

I love Cihangir. Not only is it home to one of the oldest and, in my opinion, the best wine boutique, La Cave, but also does it host many interesting and nice restaurants. Datli Maya, which I wrote about in one of my earlier posts, is just one of them. Last weekend, we got the chance to try out Demeti, a tavern which has become rather popular lately. With its wide range of traditional mezze's and chilled out atmosphere, Demeti is especially a perfect place if you want an easy night out with a large group of friends.

Meze Taksim Meze'de Yenir / Meze in Taksim is THE Place for Mezze's

Şişhane Pera'daki Meze tam bir meze cenneti! Tripadvisor'da yabancıların favori mekanı olduğunu öğrendiğimiz yer yalnızca 40 kişiyi ağırlayabilecek kapasitede ve neredeyse her akşam dolu. Bodrum Türkbükü'ndeki Lemon Tree otelinin bir uzantısı olan restoran alışagelmiş beyaz peynir, barbunya ve lakerda'dan ziyade birbirinden enteresan farklı seçenekler sunuyor.

Meze in the Sishane Pera district is a mezze heaven. Ironically, we learned about the place on Tripadvisor. Apparently the food, especially the starters are so good it is hard to find a table. Also, it might be because the place is so small, which attracts me even more. This is not a place where you'll be served the regular feta cheese and kidney beans you'll get elsewhere. Instead, you'll get to try a huge variety of crazy mixes.
