100 yıllık Osmanlı Lezzeti...Hacı Abdullah / A Century of Ottoman Cuisine...Haci Abdullah

Osmanlı mutfağının en iyi ve bilindik örneklerinden birisi olan Hacı Abdullah'ı, geç de olsa yazma fırsatı buldum. Ahilik geleneğiyle ustadan çırağa devredilen lokanta, ilk olarak 1888 yılında, bizzat Sultan II Abdülhamit tarafından ruhsatı verilerek, hizmete açılmıştır. Beyoğlu'nun değişmez adreslerinden olan Hacı Abdullah, özellikle turşu ve kompostolarıyla, yerli yabancı bir çok ziyaretçiye tarihi en güzel şekilde tanıtan restoranlardan birisi.

Surely one of the best and most well known examples of the Ottoman cuisine, Hacı Abdullah is an indispensable part of our culinary history. Founded in 1888, the restaurant has hosted many famous names through history, and continues its legacy to provide Ottoman dishes, just the way we know and like them.

Shake Shack Yakında İstanbul'da!! / The Famous American, Shake Shack Soon to Open in Istanbul!!

Bugün okuduğum çok sevindirici bir haberi sizinle paylaşmak istedim. Ünlü Amerikan hamburgerci Shake Shack Mayıs ayında İstanbul'a geliyormuş!!

Today I read the most exciting news in the paper. The famous American burger bar Shake Shack is coming to Istanbul in May!!

Beyoğlu'nda Gizli bir Ege'li...Eleos / Aegean Breeze in Beyoglu...Eleos

Mavi beyaz renk kombinasyonuna her zaman bayılmışımdır. Bana yazı ve güzel Akdeniz sahillerini hatırlatıyor. Beyoğlu'nda tarihi Hıdivyal Palas'ın içinde saklı Eleos bu hissiyatı İstanbul'a taşımayı başarmış. Mavi beyaz dekor Rum meyhane kültürü ve Ege'nin leziz yemekleri ile birleşince insanın içini ısıtan, neşeli bir mekan çıkmış ortaya. Haydarpaşa'dan Boğaziçi'ne, Kız Kulesi'nden Selimiye'ye harika bir manzara da olunca bir çoğumuzun vazgeçilmezi oluyor Eleos.

I've always loved the blue and white color combination. It reminds me of summer and the beautiful Meditteranean coast. Hidden in the historical Hidivyal Palace building in Beyoglu, Eleos manages to bring out this feeling in the center of Istanbul. The blue and white color decor, tavern ambiance, and delicious tastes from the Meditteranean on the menu all together create a cozy and cheerful restaurant. You can't tell from outside, but Eleos has a wonderful view of the Bosphorus and the old town. Hence, it's understandable why this is such a favorite spot to many.

Anthony Bourdain'in Kızılkayalar Islak Burger Aşkı / Anthony Bourdain's Love for Wet Burgers at Kizilkayalar

No Reservations programının sunucusu ünlü şef Anthony Bourdain Kızılkayaları ziyaretinde şöyle demiş: "Türkler bu ıslak burger varken neden Mcdonald's a gider ki?" Bu soruyu bana bundan bir kaç ay önce sormuş olsalardı: "Şaka mı yapıyorsunuz, o yapış yapış yağlı hamburgeri mi yiyeceğim?" diye cevap verirdim. Oysa ki blog yazmaya başlayınca şu ünlü burgere bir şans vereyim deyip Özgür'le İstiklal'in yolunu tuttuk. Ve hayatımda bir ilki gerçekleştirerek üç hamburgeri (ki unutmayın, ben bir bayanım!) bir oturuşta yedim.

When No Reservation's host famous chef Anthony Bourdain visited Kizilkayalar, a famous burger bar in Istanbul, he asked the following: "Why on earth do Turks go to Mcdonald's when they have this?". If you had asked me the same question some time ago my answer would have been simple: "Are you kidding me? I'd never eat that sticky, oily, greacy food". But, as the devoted food blogger I am, I accepted my husband's proposal and headed towards Taksim and the famous corner shop. As it turned out, not only did I like it, but for the first time in my life did I manage to finish three burgers at once (considering I'm a girl, that's pretty awesome and scary :)).
