Yenilenen yüzüyle Macro Kanyon / The new face of Macro Kanyon

Macrocenter'i her zaman çok sevmişimdir. Fiyatları diğer süpermarketlere göre yüksek olabilir ama başka yerlerde bulamayacağım yerli yabancı çeşitleri ve manav tazeliğinde sebze meyveyi burada bulurum daima. Bundan birkaç ay önce Kanyon Macro tadilata girince biraz sinirlendim; bundan daha güzel ne yapılabilir ki diye. Anlaşılan çok daha güzeli..

I've always loved Macrocenter. The prices are slightly above other supermarkets but you can always find local and foreign products sold nowhere else and the vegetables and fruits are as fresh as the ones at greengrocers. A couple of months ago, Macro in Kanyon closed for refurbishment; making me a bit mad since I thought: how much better can it get. Apparently much better..

Yenilenen Kanyon'un en sevdiğim yanlarından birisi açılan snack bar bölümü. Süpermarketin hemen yanında açılan, ayrı bir giriş çıkışı olan küçük yer, hızlı bir şeyler atıştırmak isteyenler için ideal. İçeride oturmak için 2 ufak masa ve yüksek bir bar yer alıyor. Daha çok salata, soğuk sandviç ve dürümlerin yer aldığı snack bar'da çorbanızı ısıtmak için de bir microdalga var. Özgür'ün favorisi dil peynirli sandviçken benimkisi ise domatesli fesleğenli çorbası. Mekan genellikle öğle saatlerinde çok iş yaptığı için akşama kalmadan birçok çeşit bitmiş oluyor. Yine de yolunuz akşam da düşerse bakmanızı öneririm. Her şey son derece taze. 

Dünya mutfakları için ayrı köşelerin ayrılmış olmasa bir diğer güzel yenilik. Özellikle Uzakdoğu köşesi, sarkıtılmış geleneksel kırmızı siyah kağıt lambaları ile bir harika.. Hint, Meksika.. aklınıza gelebilecek her türlü mutfağın malzemeleri bulunuyor. 

Kardeşimin gluten alerjisi var ve o yüzden birçok yemekten mahrum kalıyor. Macro'daki glutensiz ürünler bölümünü görünce ne kadar mutlu olduğunu anlatamam size. Makarna çeşitlerinden tatlılara kadar her şey var. Eti'nin glutensiz brownie'si bile.. 

İçeride başka markaların standları da bulunuyor. Kahve dünyasının içeride kocaman bir alanı var. İsterseniz kahvenizi orada bile içebilir, yanı başındaki büyük masada arkadaşlarınızla sohbet edebilirsiniz. 

Girişte ise en zararlılar yer alıyor. Levent metrosu çıkışındaki Krispy Kreme Doughnuts girişte sağda küçük bir standda satış yaparken asıl yeri Bağdat Caddesinde olan Yummy Cupcakes de solda rengarenk oldukça cezbedici bir köşeye sahip. 

En güzeli ise sona sakladım. Şimdiden markaların özel tanıtımı olarak başlayan yemek kursları yakında herkese açık olacak. Macro'nun orta kısmında yer alan devasa açık mutfakta Türkiye'den dünyaya bir çok farklı yemek programı seçeneği mevcut olacak. Her bir kurs birkaç saatlik olup sonrasında yapılan yemekler hep beraber yenecek. Ne zaman başlayacağı kesin olmamakla birlikte bir gözümüzü macro'nun web sitesinde tutmamızda fayda olduğunu iletti şef. 

Yemek kurslarına mutlaka katılmayı düşünüyor ve sonrasında size izlenimleri paylaşıyorum..

One of best parts of the new Macro is the snack bar. Opened as an independant part of the supermarket with a separate entrance and exit, this small place is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite. There are two tables or a long bar you can choose from to sit at. There's a variety of salads, cold sandwiches, and wraps as well as soups you can heat at the microwave available at your service. Ozgur's favorite is the "dil" (a certain Turkish cheese) sandwich whereas mine is the tomato basil soup. 

The place gets rather crowded during lunch time and hence there isn't much variety left for dinner but I'd still recommend you take a look even if you go late. Everything is daily made and extremely fresh. 

Another newness is the corners reserved for different cuisines. The Far East corner was in particular really nice; with the traditional red and black paper lamps. Other cuisines products' available were Indian, Chinese, Mexican, etc.  

My brother has a gluten allergy and therefore miss out on a lot of good food. He is probably the one person happiest for the change due to the new gluten section. You can find anything from pasta to chocolate brownies.. 

Other brands also have their stalls within Macro. Kahve Dunyası, a local coffee chain famous for the chocolate spoons, has a huge area inside. If you want, you can even sit by the big wooden table and drink your coffee on the spot. 

The sweet temptations are by the entrance. Krispy Doughnuts and Yummy Cupcakes are a sight for the eye. There's no way you can escape them :). 

I've saved the best for last. The big area in the mid part of Macro is reserved for food courses, ranging from Turkish to world cuisine. Each course lasts only for a few hours and afterwards you get to eat what you have made. If you ask me, it's the perfect way to spend the evening with friends. Although not knowing exactly when it starts, the chef told me to keep an eye on Macro's website for announcements and reservations.
